Mobile computing software enters US Market
A Product of Australian company Basis Design is now being exported to the US under a three-year agreement with asset management software company Altiris.
The product, called BasisMobile, is intended to free company management and operating staff from their desks and allow them to work anywhere within offices, plant or warehouse and from remote field locations, using a variety of handheld devices, under both wireless and cradled data sync models.
BasisMobile is primarily a software product but integrates with specific hardware components and technologies, in particular RFID (radio frequency identification) and barcode scanner systems as well as wireless communications devices.
Basis Design uses its capability in the mobile and embedded software space to create a product that bridges the gap between enterprise data stores and field operatives, meeting the demand for business critical data entry, collection and distribution in the field.
BasisMobile's asset management capability is rebranded as Altiris Barcode Solution for distribution through Altiris channels worldwide.
Altiris Barcode Solution provides onsite capabilities for full asset lifecycle management using mobile devices, including creation and registration of new assets, location scanning audits, inventory reporting and dynamic data look ups, asset identification and assignment, asset association management, fully integrated barcode and RFID scanning with direct-scan data capture, management of integrated scanning devices and data sensitive UI controls.
Prior to the agreement with Altiris Basis Design had been commissioned by Laservision to design and implement the full authoring and control software used in the Hong Kong Symphony of Lights installation.
The Laservision project spanned more than six years of development, resulting in the successful deployment of the lighting system across Victoria Harbour.
